Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.
Located in the heart of Europe, it is one of the most important European cities and one of the most beautiful cities of the continent, the world and also the capital of the Czech Republic and economic and cultural centre of the country. The city has a rich architectural heritage that reflects both the uncertain currents of Czech history and an urban life that spans more than 1,000 years.
Prague is home to many attractions and landmarks. Among the most beautiful is the Charles Bridge from the 14th century, which stands on the banks of the Vltava River. The meandering course of the Vltava with its many bridges and changing views contrasts with the surroundings and the ubiquitous backdrop of the great Prague Castle, which dominates the entire city from the left bank from behind the walls high on the hill. When viewed from the surrounding hills overlooking the historic centre, the numerous church spires form a uniquely dominant perspective that has led to Prague being described as “the city of a hundred spires”.
In 1992, the historic city centre was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
